Role Overview
Work with new and existing clients, responsible for the whole life cycle of each of your projects from full design through to specification and sign off of solar PV installations. Carry out site visits and surveys for prospective installations of commercial roof and ground mount installations. Your day-to-day work will be designing PV installations, tendering documents and drawings associated with the submission of planning applications.
Responsibilities
- Lead design engineering for projects in our pipeline – Commercial
- Utilise Autocad and PVSol/PVSyst for tendering documents and drawings for planning applications
- Manage District Network Operators and Independent Connection Providers, including connection application processes and G99/G100 requirements
- Verify initial system layout and equipment location specified by salesperson
- Complete system designs for PV projects including site plans, verify mounting plans, single-line electrical drawings, specification of switchgear and protective devices, monitoring and communications, metering and labelling
- Interface and provide streamlined project information and detailed bill of materials to the commercial team
- Provide operations, service and sales departments with engineering support as needed.
- Understand the optimal design applications and design limitations of our standard products, and lead the evaluation of alternate products
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- 4+ years in the design and specification of Solar PV commercial installations
- Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, NEC requirements, construction practices
- Familiar with a range of panel, inverter, meter and mounting manufacturers
- Competent in AutoCAD (essential) and in PVSOL (preferred)
- Electrical engineering degree or significant electrical PV design and installation experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously
- Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
- Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
- Comfortable working autonomously as well as a team player
- Proficient with Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel
- You must hold a UK driving licence for this position
The successful candidate will be expected to attend training, industry exhibitions and client workshops to develop relevant skills and knowledge
